Priscilla Stevens My favorite subject is the landscape, specifically water. I want to convey in my art my love for Maine’s lakes, ocean and rivers with the beauty of their reflections and all the constantly changing light and color. In my paintings, I offer my honest observations; I attempt to capture the fleeting effects of each color and its relationship to the colors around it. I create my plein air paintings on location in usually a 2-3-hour period. After which the light of the moment I was inspired by is gone. I am grateful to have worked under such artists as: J. Thomas R. Higgins, Janet Manyan, Phillip Paratore and am inspired by the Maine Artists: Lois Dodd, Fairfield Porter, Connie Hayes, Thomas Paquette, Neil Welliver, to name a few.
